My approach is always to treat the person, not the disease. The first step is good case history taking, the second is getting the right information through targeted testing, the third is addressing contributing lifestyle and dietary factors, the fourth is assessing progress and finally, establishing what is required for maintenance.

Inflammation

No matter what the disease is, inflammation will be a part of it. Knowing what the drivers are and how to control them is vital.

Weight loss

I especially love working with people who are pre-diabetic or for whom improvements in diet and exercise have made little difference. I will introduce you to the role that genetics, inflammation, hormonal imbalances, gland function, exercise, blood sugar control, toxicity, acidity and brain chemistry may be having in your weight issue and will show you how to get your metabolism working again. You will not be given a “diet”. You will be shown how to control the drivers of your weight problem through lifestyle changes and eating the foods that work best with your unique body.

Metal and Chemical Poisoning

This is an area for which I have become recognised. I have helped many people recover from poisoning from amalgams, pesticide use, exposure to agricultural chemicals of various types, industrial metal exposure and the gradual accumulation of chemical sensitivity. The key to improving health outcomes is in knowing how the detox systems need to be supported and how the competitive nature of chemicals, metals and minerals may affect these.

Digestive Disorders

These include reflux, indigestion, bloating, gas, irritable bowel, chronic diarrhoea, constipation, stomach “migraines”, unresolved or cyclical gut infections, Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis. I will help you to get the balance of your digestive system restored and your digestive system organs “talking” to each other properly again. I have also had a lot of experience with liver and gallbladder problems and specific infections such as Candida or small bowel overgrowth.

Food and Chemical Intolerances

I will help you discover the foods and substances that are inflaming and damaging your body, how to replace allergenic foods with other foods and how to reduce your reactivity levels. Removing allergenic foods is not the complete solution – improving tolerance by restoring the gut microbiome and healing the gut lining is essential.

Detoxification

I believe this is one of the most important parts of restoring health. It is important to improve and heal the liver, kidneys, bowel and gall bladder. The program I offer is comprehensive, straight forward and provides you with tools you can continue to use through your lifetime to maintain these important organs. As part of the initial process, I may require Organic Acids testing, DNA testing and Metal and Mineral testing to be done. The correct function of nutrients and mineral relationships are vital for the body to be able to nourish and cleanse itself. See the articles regarding detoxification under ‘Resources’ for more information.

Hormonal Balance

Hormones are some of our most potent communication chemicals. They affect our energy levels, sleep, fertility, digestion, weight, coping ability and more. Their balance can be affected by many things including lack of exercise, infections, chemical exposure, mineral imbalances, stress, nutritional depletions and allergies. Hormonal imbalances are always reflective of a deeper, more fundamental problem. Many of the hormonal solutions offered today in both the natural health and medical systems are little more than band-aids which, though they may provide immediate and short term relief, serve to further unsettle things long term.  Learning how to correct your hormones properly is vital to your health and well being. I use DUTCH hormone and Organic Acids testing to provide insight into the biochemical pathways that may be affecting the hormonal balance in patients.

Mental Health

At the root of most mental health problems will be inflammation and a problem with detoxification. Depression for example, is not a deficiency of antidepressants.  It is the result of an inflamed, overloaded and deficient body. The drivers of the inflammation can be food related, chemical related, a result of other chronic health conditions, the effects of toxic metals, the effects of genetic quirks which affect the use of certain nutrients, or nutrient shortages.

Cancer recovery and prevention

The Ultimate Health Program is ideal for those who have cancer concerns or who are undergoing or recovering from treatment. Inflammation, biochemical pathways which are affecting the metabolism of hormones, acidity, lack of anti-oxidant function, dysfunctional immunity, and generalised detoxification issues would be some of the most important aspects to address in preventing a return of cancers once standard treatment is completed.

For anyone going through standard treatment I can help with reducing the side effects of both chemotherapy and radiation, while ensuring the efficacy of the treatment is not compromised. In fact, in many cases we can potentiate the drugs so that they work better. There are a number of safety issues to consider when using supplements alongside chemotherapy or immunotherapy, and natural supplements should never be used without professional advice from someone trained in this area.

Radiation burns and discomfort can be vastly reduced without affecting the result if the correct approach is used. The Ultimate Health Program is designed to cover all of this for cancer patients and their support crew/families.

As a health coach…

IINPlate_1201022

I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.

My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding.

Together we’ll work to reach your health goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximizing energy. As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.
